Heaton Athletic 4 – 4 Prestbury Lynx
Lynx
travelled to Abney Hall today which is a superb setting for junior football.
Both teams looked up for a good tussle so an end to end game broke out with
plenty of good midfield play
on display. Heaton took the lead after some
dodgy keeping on our part let Heaton in for a sloppy first goal.
Before
we knew where we were it was 2-0 as Heaton threatened to run amock. Lynx then
pulled a nice goal
back from debutant Sam Goodwin when he turned neatly in
the box and drove home. Heaton stormed back
and scored again just before
half time to make it 3-1 and seemingly put the game out of Lynx reach.
Lynx conceded another to make the score 4-1 we
were playing some good football and getting into
good scoring opportunities.
One of these moves saw the ball land at Sam’s feet and he looped a ball into the
box where Kane was lurking to head home from 6 yards. The lads sensed a
fight back was on the cards so
went straight back at Heaton from the off.
Matt Davis and Will were tearing into Heaton’s back line and
creating havoc down
the right, again Sam passed into the box and again Kane got in there to see
the ball
over the line with his back side this time but hey… they all count
!!.
Heaton were all over the place, now, just like a boxer caught with
the Ali 1-2 and Lynx’s front players
were like a swarm buzzing around them.
Once again it was debut boy Sam who found space in the box to
slot home the
equaliser just seconds before the ref blew for full time. Great fight back
lads.. well done !!

Queensgate 5 – 1 Prestbury Lynx
Lynx travelled to table topping Queensgate today and were given a lesson in
footballing craft & graft. The
first 20 mins were honours even although
Queensgsate were laying siege to our goal and controlling the
ball. Lynx
hung in there but there was only so long that last gasp tackles and heroics in
goal from our stand
in keeper would keep a good football side out. The score
0 - 1 at half time was in truth a little flattering to us.
Lynx put a good stint in for the fist 10 mins of the 2nd half and
pulled a goal back from Jacob after first Will
and then Matt caused
confusion in the Queensgate rearguard. Lynx then shot themselves in the foot
with poor
marking and a lack of effort to track back from midfield leaving
our defence exposed on 3 or 4 occasions..
must do better lads !! Queensgate
cut loose and rattled in 4 goals to put a gloss on their scoreline
If we want to compete with the better teams in the division we need to work hard
in training lads and get those
fitness levels up, be more organised and work
as a team from start to finish.
